Grandma’s Gone Viral! Diversity in the Fire Service

GrandmaBertaFireOn December 13th my grandma will celebrate her 74th birthday!  At the age of 73, she became a firefighting grandma and got her very own set of fire gear!  She was born in the 1930’s and faced many forms of discrimination as a woman.

I am thankful for the women like my grandmother that kept pushing forward. I am also grateful for the men that have not only welcomed us, but have provided opportunities to accelerate our growth in a male-dominated field.

You can check out my latest article about my grandma and diversity in the fire service over at Firehouse.com: http://www.firehouse.com/article/12021740/fire-service-diversity-enables-grandmother-to-wear-firefighting-gear

If you are interested in learning how to close the gender gap, I would love to deliver a workshop to your organization. Click here to complete the speaker’s request form and let’s get connected!
