Let’s face it, negative people are draining. Negative thinking can suck the life right out of a happy moment if we are not cautious.
I used to be that negative person, always complaining, thinking about the struggle instead of focusing on the victory that comes at the end. Positive thinking doesn’t mean that you stick your head in the sand and ignore the tough stuff. It just means you choose to flip the script. Positive thinking means you rewrite life’s problems in a way that can be solved AND focus on what you can control.
Being positive is good for your soul AND body! Per the Mayo Clinic, researchers have also found that that a positive mindset has the following health benefits:
- Increased life span
- Lower rates of depression
- Lower levels of distress
- Greater resistance to the common cold
- Better psychological and physical well-being
- Better cardiovascular health and reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
- Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
